Hardcover
The most noticeable difference between the hardcover and the other variants is the cardboard or cardboard cover. This makes a hardcover significantly more robust.
In addition, the spine of the book is not firmly glued to the cover. When the book is opened, a hollow space is created between the spine and the cover. The contents and the cover of a hardcover are joined together by an endpaper.
As the production costs for hardcovers are higher than for paperbacks or paperbacks, hardcovers are also available at higher prices.
A hardcover is particularly recommended for certain genres, for example if your title is a cookbook or an illustrated book.
Paperback
The term "paperback" is based on the fact that its format and weight make it perfect for "the pocket", i.e. on the go, compared to the hardcover. The paperback is cheaper to produce and sell and is therefore usually intended for large-scale distribution.
Paperback
Paperback is basically just the English synonym for the German paperback. In Germany, however, the paperback format differs again from the paperback in terms of its features. The paper thickness of the cover is often between that of hardcover and paperback.
